        Structure of Organisation

        5. The following sets out the structure of the Council and its various committees. Click here to view the chart.

        Activities

        6. The Council meets at least bi-monthly with these committees and Special Ministry Operation Groups (SMOGS) meeting where possible between Council meetings.

        7. Financial support was given to parishes and other organisations to support workers. The practice of continuing to give a gift to those candidates from the Region in fulltime training for ordained ministry has continued and many parishes are generous with their gifts.

        8. Loans and grants for major maintenance needs were made.

        9. Two supplements of "Link" were published as inclusions in the "Southern Cross" newspaper. Our editor received several positive follow up calls demonstrating the level of acceptance and interest.

        Vision

        10. To Support and Encourage Evangelism and Discipleship (SEED).

        Grants and Loans

        11. The list of Grants and Loans made is included in the Annual Accounts tabled at Synod.

        Highlights

        12. The year was highlighted by our third annual conference (in September) for lay people and full time workers in the region.

        13. About 160 people attended a conference based around the emerging vision later adopted by Synod. The Archbishop attended and led several sessions on explaining the vision and mobilising the Vision. An audio visual sweep around some parishes and their activities was a highlight.

        14. Strategy for ministry and evangelism in the North West Sector was the subject of discussion at meetings and progress was noted. In November Dr John Woodhouse visited the council and shared his vision for Moore College and its role in equipping workers for the mission of the diocese.

        15. On 30 November 2002 the region sponsored a diocesan and regional farewell to Bishop Brian and Mrs Pamela King at Tara School. Some 700 people gathered to thank the Kings for their ministry and in particular their 9 years of untiring service to the Western Region, the Defence Force Chaplains and the Olympic Games Task Force.

For and on behalf of the Western Sydney Regional Council
