The election of the representative on 28 February 1982 by the Parish of Cooks River was referred to the Elections and Qualifications Committee. The Committee found that the name recorded on the certificate of election was not that of the person elected. On the question of whether prior personal consent is required from a person who is nominated at a vestry meeting to elect Synod representatives, the Committee concluded that "the relevant legislation does not require consent to be given prior to or at the time of nominations".
