An Ordinance to amend the Assistant Bishops (Bishops Coadjutor) Ordinance 1947 and the Regions Ordinance 1995.

The Synod of the Diocese of Sydney Ordains -

Name of Ordinance

1. This Ordinance is the Regions (Change of Name) Ordinance 1997.

Amendment to the Assistant Bishops (Bishops Coadjutor) Ordinance 1947

2. Clause 2 of the Assistant Bishops (Bishops Coadjutor) Ordinance 1947 is amended as follows -

(a) before the matter “An Assistant Bishop” the matter “(1)” is inserted; and

(b) at the end of the clause the following matter is inserted -

“(2) If the title of an Assistant Bishop is changed under clause 2(1) as a consequence of the change of the name of a Region under clause 3(2) of the Regions Ordinance 1995, then each ordinance referring to that title is taken to have been changed and in any reprinting of that ordinance the Diocesan Secretary is authorised to print the new title in the place of the former title.”

Amendment to the Regions Ordinance 1995

3. The Regions Ordinance 1995 is amended by inserting the following new subclause after subclause 3(3) -

“(4) Upon the change of the name of a Region, each ordinance referring to the Region and to the Regional Council of that Region is taken to have been changed and in any reprint of that ordinance the Diocesan Secretary is authorised to print the new name of the Region or its Regional Council, as the case may be, in the place of the former name.”.
