There being only one name on the Final List, the President put the motion that Canon Peter Jensen be invited to become Archbishop of Sydney.

A vote was taken by show of hands in each order, the lay members voting first. The results of the vote were -

There being a majority of both orders having voted in favour of the motion, the President declared Canon Peter Jensen to have been elected as Archbishop of Sydney.
